John Correllus leads the Data Division as deputy state chief information officer (CIO) and chief data officer for the state of North Carolina. This newly formed division focuses on leveraging the state's data assets to support informed decision-making. He is focused on expanding and integrating analytics into agencies' business strategies and business intelligence initiatives. He also serves as director of the Government Data Analytics Center within the North Carolina Department of Information Technology.

Before his current role, Correllus held several technology leadership positions with the state of North Carolina, including the IT strategic sourcing director. There, he focused on partnering with the vendor community and established foundational sourcing practices, leading to significant contractual savings.

Additionally, Correllus served as agency CIO for the Office of State Human Resources, delivering several successful enterprise solutions across the state. He was also in several other successful roles, such as business intelligence director and GIS manager for the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

Before joining the state of North Carolina, Correllus worked in the private sector developing GIS solutions across the nation. He earned a bachelor of arts in geography from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and CIO certification from the UNC School of Government.
