The N.C. Health Information Exchange Authority website has a new tool to help you find the answers to all your NC HealthConnex questions!
A new chatbot is now live on the website. Please feel free to check it out by visiting any NC HIEA webpage. You can interact with the chatbot at the lower righthand corner of each page.
Visitors can ask the chatbot any questions related to the NC HIEA or NC HealthConnex. The chatbot will answer your question and provide you with a link to read more about that topic.
The chatbot’s knowledge base, where it gets its answers, comes directly from the NC HIEA website. It will crawl the entire site to find the best available information related to your question. It cannot answer questions that do not pertain to NC HealthConnex or the NC HIEA.
For instance, if you ask, “How do I get notifications?”, it will respond with the information available about signing up for NC*Notify, the event notification service of NC HealthConnex.
However, if you ask, “How do I get notifications on my iPhone?”, it will still respond with general information about NC*Notify notifications, as information about iPhone settings is not available on any of our web pages.
The chatbot does not collect data on specific users asking it questions. It only retains the anonymous questions and answers and sends weekly reports to the NC HIEA so our team can continue to review for accuracy of the answers given.
The chatbot cannot accept or display Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI). If any is entered into the chatbot, it will appear as asterisks blocking that information from the report.
Since there are multiple locations on the website that they chatbot may use to answer a question, such as the FAQs, PDFs or previous slide presentations, we will continue to review reports to make sure the chatbot’s knowledge base is as up-to-date as possible. This also helps us ensure our website is also providing the most accurate and timely information to our visitors.
If you have any questions or thoughts you would like to share with us regarding the new chatbot, contact us at hiea@nc.gov.
