Here are some helpful steps to take:

Some new benefits Clinical Portal users may see include an improved Clinical Summary section allowing data to be viewed in two columns, the ability to do a text search within individual chartbook pages and additional clinical sections within the patient record.

The goal of this upgrade is to modernize the NC HealthConnex infrastructure to current health information exchange standards, which will result in improved system performance and a better user experience for those participants utilizing exchange services including, but not limited to, the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal.

This upgrade occurred over the weekend of August 10 – August 11, 2024, during which participants experienced planned downtime and delays in NC HealthConnex data exchange services.

  • Data submission was temporarily on hold.
  • Access to the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal was unavailable.
  • Outbound services were unavailable, including NC*Notify and bidirectional query and retrieval.
  • Access to Direct Secure Messaging, if facilitated through NC HealthConnex, was unavailable.
  • ADT and CCD messages sent to NC HealthConnex will queue on your side during this timeframe. These messages will be accepted once the upgrade is complete.

Services have since resumed, and queued data was sent to NC HealthConnex.

This upgrade will affect the entire NC HealthConnex platform. This includes the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal and NC*Notify. After the upgrade, users will see new features in the Clinical Portal and an enhanced user experience.

This upgrade process and any subsequent downtime did not impact your compliance with the HIE Act. If you have a signed and executed Participation Agreement, there is nothing more you need to do at this time.
