Information Regarding Regularly Scheduled Third Weekend Maintenance

The N.C. Health Information Exchange Authority’s technical contractor, SAS, has a regularly scheduled, third-weekend, general-purpose maintenance window for all support teams at SAS. This includes the NC HealthConnex Clinical Portal and Direct Secure Messaging (Web Communicate). Note that there will be a maintenance window the third weekend of every month, so please plan accordingly.

As a part of this routine maintenance, you may experience system interruption as we patch operating and supporting systems.

  • For VPN connections (typically hospitals), this maintenance window may result in data feeds queuing in your EMR solution during the outage. Once services are restored, your queued data will immediately begin to process again, and will transfer to the NC HIE Clinical Portal during the weekend.
     
  • For SFTP connections (typically, physician and ambulatory practices), this maintenance window may or may not impact the NC HIE Clinical Portal and Direct Secure Messaging (Web Communicate). Both websites may or may not be accessible during this window. Once the upgrade is complete, full access will be restored.
