Dr. Tammy Bone Kiger is a practicing physician at Harvest Family Health Center, one of four locations operated by Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc. (CFHC), a federally qualified community health center serving Edgecombe, Nash and Wilson counties. Kiger works in her home community, where she was reared and currently resides, to support CFHC's mission of providing affordable and accessible health care with excellence. She serves a wide variety of patients from those who have lived many generations in the community to those who work as seasonal farmworkers.
Since joining CFHC in 2012, Kiger has developed an interest in clinical communications as it relates to medical documentation and patient communication strategies. Prior to working at CFHC, she practiced traditional internal medicine in a private practice setting and worked at James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Kiger's experiences in a variety of medical care settings provide her with a perspective through the eyes of an end user in order to benefit daily patient care.
Kiger received an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and masters of science degree from East Carolina University. She received a medical degree from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed an internal medicine residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
