Dr. Neal Chawla has been chief medical information officer at WakeMed since 2018. He oversees clinical informatics to ensure technology adoption, data and analytics to mature the organization's insights and clinical transformation initiatives to deliberately and measurably improve patient outcomes.
Previously, Chawla served for a decade as associate chief medical information officer and associate chief medical officer for clinical effectiveness at a health system in Virginia. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, N.J. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan and a clinical informatics fellowship with the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City.
